trouble with off site avatar and profile pic
i have two pics that i want to use as an avatar and profile pic they are:
http://jwiger.no-ip.info/media/Pictu...t_away-200.jpg and http://jwiger.no-ip.info/media/Pictu.../Lavafield.jpg respectivley. why am i so limited to size if i'm hosting the pics on my web server? and why does the php script put the ... in the middle of the name of hyperlinks? |

that is correct, i'd like the mustang pic as the avatar. From the experiance of running my own web server in my house i totally understand bandwidth and web page space restrictions but i just think that as far as the profile is concerned size shouldn't be as restrictive for off-site hosted pics, and avatars since they aren't hurting your bandwidth. -i hope i don't sound rude, i just like to push my freedom as far as it will go, espeacially when it involves things hosted on my own server. |

Hey J, You dont sound rude, the reason for the size, is not bandwidth, its more about people being able to see a post, not just one persons avatar. As far as the profile pic, I guess your right, I dont see any harm with increasing the image size. I'll go ahead and increase it to 400 wide for now. Thanks for the tips, Lem |

I tried linking the profile pic again and i'm getting this message: vBulletin Message Error - cannot find an image at the specified URL. Please make sure that you have entered a valid URL. i have no idea why the link won't work, maybe it's the length i noticed in the first post of this thread that the script cut out the middle and replaced it with ... i know this didn't happen when i put the link to an off site pic in to the thread but i wonder if for some reason the code is abreviating links in the profile pages. i checked this link: http://www.powerstrokeforum.com/images/jwiger.jpg and it didn't work either, maype it's a problem with my domain Last edited by Andy : 08-12-2005 at 09:23 PM. |
