[quote=livinglegend18;3269765]Go to a Ford dealer. Take the truck with you so they can check it They have a master key for the lock. They can tell you what the key number is and you can have a key made from a company in N.Y. The Ford dealer should be able to hook you up with the company name and with the key number you give them they should be able to send you the key in the mail for about $35.00 The key is operated with the jack handle to lower the spare tire to the ground. Same thing happened to me. Worth every penny not to destroy the spare tire holder. I also have a 2005 XLT 4X4 LB CC Ford wants about $600 to replace the spare tire holder assembly, $35.00 is way cheaper.

I had the same problem when I got my truck, no key for the tire winch. I think you use a 9/16's socket and take a a few extensions and hammer it onto the key so you can lower the tire (I have also hear of using a pipe hammered onto it or using a bolt out.), then you can crawl under the truck and pop the lock off the winch so that you can lower it with a normal handle. Hope that makes sense. There is a thread about it around here somewhere, mine is an 08 but I'm betting the process isn't much different.

May be late but just did this on my 2000. Hammered the 9/16 6pt socket on and lowered it by hand. Then got under there with long flat head and put it between the lock and tire carrier piece and just pried until it popped off. Nothing to it. Took 5 minutes by myself.
