This is my first Diesel. Be easy on me now!~
I had "EGR" problems this past summer, while pulling our camper. FAILURE! White smoke billowed out right when I hit camp! The extended warranty company said~ "You are S.O.L." But the dealership took me under its wing! They fixed the problem. But 6 months later~ my Diesel is running horrible when cold. Seems to be running on half of the cylinders until warm. I have seen a puff of white again from the exhaust when getting on it.~~ I have let it sit for a few days now,,,, returned to give it a start,, now she wont even run...... Just cranks over, and over.......... What do ya's think???? ![]() Joe... |

Sounds like a classic FICM issue. Check your voltages. JJ

I typed in "how to check FICM powerstroke" and google was nice enough to give me this link!
Try it out sometime. lol. Jk, a lot of questions can be answered by going to google, typing your question with powerstroke at the end. FICM voltage Enjoy |

Well,, done checking! The verdict is in! BAD FICM! The voltage reading dropped from 48 volts, to 14 when cranking! I Thank you guys for the help!!~ But, if I get an aftermarket FICM,, does this need to be flashed from a dealership? Should I try to repair this bad boy myself?? THIS FORUM ROCKS! Thanks for all the responses!!

If you are DECENT with a soldering gun then you can try it yourself.
OR give Swamps Diesel a call. A lot of guys run their FICMS. And I will too once mine dies. The only problem with you trying it yourself, is if you mess it up then you can't send it in and get a deposit back from them because Swamps will pay you for your crappy one. |
