Yeah it depends on the plant and what process they use. Plants that you see a methane stack is a anerobic process. I work at a plant that is a aerobic oxidation plant. Basically in laymans terms an anerobic plant you don't use disolved oxygen to keep the bugs alive to eat the poo. Anerobic is without oxygen or bugs that don't need it to break down the wastewater and methane gas is one of the byproducts of the digestion

There was a segment on Invention Nation about this topic yesterday. I watched it and it looks like promising future for diesel power.
