I am new to both the forum and my Truck, 02' 7.3l Dualie bonestock... but not for long, I've been running B-20 in it since I bought it 6,000 miles ago, changed the fuel filter after running B-20 from a diesel station in Maryland, for 1,500 miles. I will run B-100 in the summer when the station stocks it. I haven't had an problems, in fact the engine seems to run a lot smoother. I have filled up with ULSD in New Jersey and noticed a change in how the engine was running rougher about 25 miles down the NJ turnpike. I ran the tank down and filled back up with B-20 and she has been running smooth since.

I have noticed a power and small milage increase in my 7.3 but didn't ck either on my 6.0 (yet, it is mostly driven by the wife). I do run Lucas in the winter sometimes but i mostly run #1 with about a 1/100 2 cycle oil/fuel. that seems to do well for my 95 in extream temps (-20 to -75).

Question

Thanks to everyone who wrote and posted this very informative article. One more question please... What percentage biodiesel to petrolium offers the same lubercation values as #2 did before they removed the sulfur? Thanks.

It only takes 2% biodiesel to make a HUGE difference in lubricity. There is a study out that shows the lubricity of several popular products (I don't have the link, maybe someone will post it) that shows B2 to be the best of the best. That's well under the 5% allowed by Ford for warranty purposes. And for all the 6.0L folks out there--I think you'll notice quieter injectors running a low dose of bio. I definitely did.

Where does one fine Bio-D? I've not seen it anywhere, but then again, I'm not sure where to look either.

Question

Found the link. <www.dieselplace.com> Titled "Lubricity Additive Study Results" Interesting study! Since we live in Boonyville (Bryson City), and the closest Biofuel station is located in Asheville about 75 miles east, or Knoxville, 80 miles west and through the national park, I am going to use the second option. According to the study, the Opti-Lube XPD product is the next best providing the needed lubricity for the older engines, adding about $4.35 for a 26 gallon fill-up. I wonder if we will have any problems if we use #2 with the Opti-lube, most of the time, then run B5 when we can find it on trips? Thanks in advance.
