Ford F-Series Super Duty Sales Up Dramatically Thanks to All-New Model

Ford's brand-new 2011 Super Duty pickup is creating a dramatic boost in truck sales, with May the best sales month for the model in two years. Sales of the truck beat retail targets by 237 percent in May, and beat the overall sales target (including fleet sales) by 153 percent.

According to Ford Truck Marketing Manager Doug Scott the majority of buyers are opting for the F-250 Crew Cab model with four-wheel drive. Also popular is the new 6.7-liter PowerStroke diesel engine that makes 390-hp and 735 ft-lbs of torque. In total, 60 percent of buyers opted for this powerful new engine.

The popularity of the F-Series Super Duty helped Ford truck sales overall, with total F-Series sales jumping 49 percent in May for a 39 percent increase total for the first five months of 2010.

I have a 2008 F-450 which carries a Lance 992 (4k lbs, dry weight) and pulls a 28ft Pace Auto hauler with '84 Landcruiser (8200 lbs w/o gear) and the 6.4l has some struggle as I climb from Texas into Colorado and not just the passes but the general climb from 500ft to 6000 ft.

Test drobe the 6.7l and the difference is pretty noticeable. Would like to find links to any recall info so I can trade after the bugs are worked out. But this engine would be a nice addition.

heard this motor was designed for a race boat application and is dialed down to current horsepower and torque.Also heard that ford will reflash the pcm and idm to maximize hp and torque to an almost crazy 500hp and 850lbs torque,cant wait for that.Supposed to compete with the new duramax and out run.We will see.I hope so!
