Aside from the appearance, which I think more often than not takes a little time to grow on people, I think Ford is going to have a real winner on their hands. I love the rear locker option and I can't wait to see what the aftermarket performance sector comes up for this engine and what kind of numbers people will be able to push it too. For too long Duramax and Cummins people have had bragging rights as far as easily achieved power gains and fuel economy numbers.

Now all they need to do is redesign the Excursion suspension, out the new motor in it, and they'll sell more than they could imagine. C'Mon Ford, you need to dominate the suv world too! Why would they be with holding the numbers though?

I think Ford has raised the bar, it'll be up to the other two government/taxpayer-owned companies to try to compete. I think it is a technological masterpiece when they can get the rumored Hp/Tq numbers and meet the absurd emmission standards the unelected smog nazis are forcing upon us. The cutaway of the exhaust system reminds me of the rocket engine cutaways that used to be in Popluar Science when I was a kid. I don't care too much for the grill, it looks like it is two sizes too big for the truck. I can't see myself spending 60+ k on a pickup truck that will depreciate just like all the rest do. For that kind of dough, I could take my favorite pre-smog truck of any make or model, and restore it from the ground up with any diesel engine I want. 60 grand is a lot of money in my world, and to justify spending it on a work truck it would have to be exactly what I want both looks and performance wise. Just my opinion, though. I am sure they will sell the heck out of them. |
