I know I am new to the forum but I figured it was time to decide to do a write up on my build. Just a small background history on my, I worked for Chrysler Dodge Jeep for 5 years prior to this so I have had 4 CTD in a row. This is my first Powerstroke and I have so far thoroughly enjoyed it.
When I first bought the truck I actually went in to purchase a new 2013 F250 FX4 Lariat the dealer had on the lot. I really wanted the brown/tan two tone but didn't want king ranch since I knew I would be doing some custom leather inside (just my preference). When I got there they had already sold the truck. Frustrated I walked out. On my way out however I saw a Certified Used 2012 Brown/Tan Lariat FX4. I was driving it home in under an hr and sadly traded in my 2014 302 Mustang Trac Edition I had bought 2 months earlier.
This is how the truck looked the day I drove it off the lot:
For those who know me, a stock truck just doesn't fit me well. I don't do well with stock trucks.
After a few days I purchased some 35x12.50x20 Federal MTs.
After the 35s were installed I felt that I needed a little more clearance and then decided to try out rough country's 3" X Suspension lift till I decided on what Carli kit I wanted to run.
The 3" kit looked great and of course was cost effective but honestly rode absolutely horrible. I began looking at the Carli kits again (I've always wanted to run).
After much debate with the team at ShowTime Metal Works I decided to do something I've never done before. And that was to run their 14" Kit. STMW has been wanting to design a suspension lift for the Ford's and I figured why not.
I had Keg Media design me up a rendering of what I wanted the truck to look like:
We are still making adjustments since it's only been driven about 500 miles since lift. So it has very minor bump steer. But to be honest it rides better than any 6-8" lifted truck ive had in the past and I'm running 40s on 22x14..
I take it up to 80 on Houston highways with no issue. Doesn't drive stock but for a lifted truck it's much better than I expected. Once all the adjustments are made and we get an alignment It should be perfect. (Alignment was done by eye).
or if you have a friend that does any type of photography you can get in with a media pass, or if you have a friend that has a automotive shop you can get in as a buyer. just some helpful little hints
When I was in a booth I sat there and listened to dude after dude ask for free stuff since they are building a "SEMA" truck...people seriously ask or a 20k plus lift kit for free..lol
I would be tired of it too especially all these guys do is ask for free **** all year round for a "SEMA" build then they sell it after SEMA. ..
Truck is back and finished. Ended up doing dual 6" tips out the same side. Painted the grille and the bumper center plates. Will post pics tomorrow. Also installed leather Kit.
I don't complerelt disagree. I do like the black. I think it brings a level of toughness. But if I could paint I would. Unfortunately the wallet is running on empty and the bumper main frame is done in textured black, so it would be a lot of work to paint it.
