My 97 F250 is getting long in the tooth and I'm thinking about what options there are when the powerstroke is worn out. I like the OBS so I'll be keeping the truck. Here's a short list of options I can think of:
Rebuild with upgrades
Buy a reman
Swap a cummins
Rebuild and upgrade a 2nd gen 7.3 (99 to 03)
I'm mostly intrigued with the 2nd gen option. Is that something that's common or are there reasons it won't work? I've been searching for days trying to find information on that type of swap into my 97 OBS and can't find a thing about it. My son would like to see me do the cummins swap but I think a newer 7.3 would be easier to do and would have plenty of power.
I've still got a lot of life in the original motor but I figure it's a good time to start planning and acquiring parts. What do y'all think?
