Land Rover - VS - Powerstroke!
What a thrill - last night, drove out to "the cove" to concentrate on work a little - as I drove up - there is a Land Rover Discovery - angled down towards the Bay, all 4 just a spinning!
The cove is this little "cove" at the bay - maybe 500 yards long max. Just a little sandy beach used to be a marina but a huricane in the 50's filled it all in with sand. Since then - its one of those "out fo the way" places to drop the kayaks, relax - not alot of attention. Well, I eased the Ford down the sand road. Locked my hubs and pulled up about 20' to his nose. I stepped out just a laughing! I couldnt help it. Poor guy - he was stuffing logs, boards, driftwood, everything he could find under those Land Rover highway tires - he was burried. I offered him a tug - he gladly accepted. I noticed he had a new paper tag on the front! He just bought his Disco - and burried it in the sand! Hooked a chain, locked the front end, dropped her in reverse and started to pull. Yanked him out of the sand better then I thought I would! Old Powerstroke showed up that Disco! |

as long as you dont break the tires loose that SD is golden on the sand, just dont spin em cuz they sink like the titanic!!
i have 37x 14.50 bfg km2's and they do great on the sand at 20 psi but it definatly cant go were my old 4runner could with a/t's Its all about knowing what your set up can do and not taking it to far..... Aparently his set up couldn't do much lol |
