Thats why i input one for your competition. i would really liek to get one, just don't have the funds for it right now.

Here is the aftermath of the broken straps:

This was a hole that came from another story and was bondoed and patched, well it cracked when the strap nailed the tailgate.

I dont think these need much explanation, but the hooks can be killer.

well THERE'S you're problem.. never EVER use a strap with a hook for an extraction - i've seen one of those hooks go clear through the factory roll bar on a jeep before.

you should use something like this:

with shackles to connect them to whatever:

MUCH safer and MUCH stronger.

this equipment can be had for a reasonable price at your nearest tractor supply, or for a little more at a dedicated 4x4 shop...

we carry probably a dozen shackles with us for times we need to get creative rigging. I won't even use the hook on ym winchline, i throw a shackle through the eye and let the hook hang. Well I did before that line broke, replaced it with one wiht no hook at all

Yeah the main problem was the strap that we used. i knew it was too small when we started, and then it snapped, the second time i didnt realize my buddy had thrown the same strap in there. That is when all the damage to the rear occurred. i wasnt worried about it on the front cause it was just the bumper and that has a few dents already, plus i really want to replace it. But i was a little upset when i saw what happened on the rear.

I use a 30,000LBS strap whenever I pull people out. Then I have 4 ft of 1/2 in chain just in case one of the vehicles doesn't have anything I can hook the strap too
