I noticed a pretty good mileage improvement with my old superchip on the economy setting.

Not sure about that lol, the TS is too much fun. Big habit to crank it up. But when I did drive with it on the "lighter" tunes....like the 50 and 75, they seemed to be just as consistent between fills as the economy setting on the superchip. But like I said once I crank it up that goes out the window...

I didn't read the instructions either

I know the computer inside is off stating an average of 14.5 mpg and figure I'm running about 16+ empty and around 14.5 completely loaded. All I cared about when I bought this truck was getting better mpg than my F150 when pulling four quads!!!

As I said I am not so worried about the mileage just trying to learn as much as possible about these trucks and the aftermarket parts before modifying mine. Just want to make sure I get the parts that match what I want. Thanks.

You're just like me, I do a lot of research and asking around anymore before I go to buy a certain part. I want to be sure i'm getting what i'm paying for.

When I picked up my Excursion back a couple of months ago from the dealer in PA (350 miles) I averaged just over 18 MPG, driving 75+ MPH. Throwing on a 7x14 v-nose (2) motorcycle trailer (about 3K pounds) and doing a couple of 100 mile round trips (mostly highway) along with in town driving brought me down a little to just over 15 MPG on the factory lie-o-meter.

Since I bought my Excursion primarily for towing, a quick comparison to my previous tow vehicle. Two 3K mile round trips with my '03 Navigator yielded me 7.8 MPG one year and 8.2 MPG the following year, with the above noted trailer configuration. Mileage was my main consideration in buying a diesel, and there was no way that I was going to get a V-10 gasser, my brother in law has one in his F250 and his mileage is crippling him (and his bank account) at 9 MPG max, without a trailer.

Looks like on that same trip next next year with the Excursion I'll come pretty darn close to almost doubling my MPG. On a trip that long with gas $3 or so a gallon, that leaves me more money for moddin'!

To borrow a line from my Dodge brothers...

Sweet...
