Allison or Torqshift

I wanna know what tranny would you choose to put behind your PSD if you had the chance? Allison or Torqshift? For me I would say Allison. The Torqshift has really disapointed me considering I'm on the 5th one and it slips, has shift flairs, gets stuck in 3rd, clunks, and I'm not even programmed. My friend has the Allison in his Duramax obviously and his truck is rather on the maxed out PPE tune or EFI live tune and his tranny is holding up pretty good. Only problem it has is sometimes the TC will lock on a 1st gear downshift but other than that its fine.

I think the allison is a good tranny but w/alot of power and abuse they don't last either. I really like my torqe shift, no probs yet and I am pushing a little hp and pulling the sled. I am ready for it to go sometime though. LOL

The 5R110 is a much better trans in stock form. It will handle 500-550 hp. Not everyday all day ofcourse. If you spend 5k on an allison they work great to.

I'd rather have the BTS 4R100 or Goerend 48RE, but between the two, Patrick said it best!

Dont dicount the torqshift. In stock form I hear it puts up with better horsepower numbers than the allison. In the larger trucks the allison is the better tranny.

The only thing I wish the Torqshift would do is lock up quickly in the higher gears like the Allison. It takes a bit to lock if you let off the throttle (ever so slightly) and get back on.

well the Alison 1000 is the SMALLEST trans. they have ever put out. Now they do make a heck of a fire truck trans. Just my .2

But the 5r110 Is NICE i love it uh, if only i had one

My diesel tech says the Alison is good but the Torqshift is a little better...he rebuilds them so i guess he knows.

It is my understanding that the Allison trans that comes with the Duramax is just a Chevy trans with "Allison" stamped on the side.....in other words just a sales pitch. If I remember correctly GM owns or used to own part of Allison.

The Allison in the Duramax is not the "dump truck" trans that Chevy owners think they are buying.

Not 100% sure on the above....as I could care less about GM....but seems like I've heard or read it somewhere.
