Marc.. if you can clarify, or confirm something for me, and everyone else, it might help. NHRDA has not released their schedule for the year. The last I saw they plan to do so on or around Jan 1. The hints they have dropped allude to several events scattered over a wide range of the country. I believe, and I'm sure Marc or Chris can confirm.. that if you pay for the NHRDA membership once, it's good for the entire year. Meaning... if you paid it at DITD, and then found out there was an event in your home area a month later that you wanted to attend, you wouldn't have to pay it agian. I know that won't affect everyone.. but thought it might make a bit of difference in some folks viewpoint on this subject. Again.. I am assuming this (and that's often a dangerous thing to do), but I think I'm probably right, and I'm sure Marc, or Chris Winans can confirm or deny it for us. |

Aaron, you are correct. This membership allows you a year long pass to attend and partake in any event that NHRDA has all over the country. If you go to a DHRA event and want to race they require the same thing, but you see the sponsors and coverage those events get. We are on our way to the same coverage and a much FUNNER event. Our event is still going to have the same Family fun as last year and add more events to keep it going. Along with more events come more payouts and much larger payout. The realistic part of it all is that we all love all Diesels not just the PSD and this will bring them all together for the very best show. This event could change the face of diesel events in the West and could also bring big things with you guys in the east and midwest. The possibilities are very good that we may develope more events in the next couple of years. This poll weighs heavily on a decision that marc and I need to make in the coming week or so. Please post your honest thoughts and not just what you think we would like to hear. This event is put on for the diesel community as a whole and will remain family oriented and not be a sellout to the big competitions where the average working class man doesn't have a chance. Be aware that this $40 is IN ADDITION to the gate fee to enter/race. It doesn't get you into the track with a tech card, it just gets you an NHRDA membership. I'm not saying that's a bad thing, I will probably join myself...just wanting to make sure that's clear. I personally don't think that people should be REQUIRED to pay for a membership to race at the event. If the NHRDA wants to sanction the event and use it as a points event for it's members, great, it would help the turnout by getting some of the NHRDA members that might not otherwise come to Phoenix to the track. If the "average joes" don't want to get into the points race and just want to "test and tune" all day between NHRDA points rounds, I don't think they should have to pay twice (membership AND gate fee)...but that's just my opinion. FYI...DHRA does NOT require you to Join to race. Everyone pays the same $45 "gate fee" to race, member or not. Part of that $45 gate fee goes to the insurance that they have to buy for everyone racing, which is why it's so high. The only exception is IF you want to race for DHRA points...then you have to be a member. Of course, they encourage people to join because it helps them put on events and helps them with their lobbying efforts to keep the Diesel Aftermarket alive. |

Dennis is correct guys. this is an upfront poll and the more info you get the better. This membership is on top of the racer fee. Your day at the track could potentially be 80.00 and not to mention the cost for dyno runs which is undetermind at this time.
This membership can be bought before the event on the NHRDA website. This way the hit doesn't come all at once. We want many more racers then we had in 07 so if you feel this will hurt your participation please voice it. Thank you dennis. |
