Info. on difference in diesel engines
I'm in the preliminary stage of buying a used F350 PSD. I have been running Diesel equipment on my farm for years, but have always had a gas pickup. I need a crewcab DRW Diesel to pull a 5th wheel trailer and a stock trailer. My knowledge of Ford Diesel pickups is very limited. I have been looking at 1999 to 2005 trucks. I have been told that the 7.3 is the better engine and to stay away from the 6.0 ?? What years did Ford produce the different engines and is there one that I should stay away from ? I have read about the 7.3 the 6.0 and I think a 6.4 is this all that Ford has used in the pickups ?? Any comments would be appreciated. Thanks

7.3 Power Stroke was 94.5 to 03.5. Multiple different variations but essentially the same bottom end. Late 03 to 07 was the 6.0. 08 to 10 was the 6.4. 11- current is the 6.7
Personally, I wouldn't have a problem buying any of the above. I've got my 7.3 now, but I'm fairly confident my next truck will be a 6.4. Sent from my SCH-I535 using AutoGuide.Com Free App |
