LCD or Plasma???

LCD or Plasma??? I'm looking to upgrade my 10 year old RCA 36" with a new flat screen 40" or better, but I don't know what to buy. I know I'll get more honest opinions here than in an electronics store. So what do I buy???

really depends on how you use it, if you play any type of games go LCD (will cause burnt in on plasma) otherwise for my 2 cents cann't beat plasma, just got a 50" Samsung and love it

I just bought a toshiba 42 Regza LX 177 and I love it. Its an LCD. A Lcd is smaller, and lighter. Doesn't put out nearly as much heat, and is a bit cheaper comparing apples to apples. But really your can't go wrong with either one. They both are great TV's

plasma has a lot of retention.... be careful if you play games or widescreen movies even. Those black bars will stay.

Go with the LCD, they last longer. We use LCDs on the tour buses, plasmas don't last.

for the buck DLP is better. I have 56" DLP in the living room and a 32" LCD in the bedroom. No matter what you do I would stay away from Plasma. They have longevity issues. From what I have read they are only good for like 6-7 years. Really it is all about black. Do you watch alot of shows that have black in them? That is the question that you need to ask yourself. DLP's don't do black well. That is the only knock that I have on them.
