looking to get 96-97 powerstroke

im a newbie here . im looking at getting a 1996- 1997 f250 powerstroke next week . dont no much about them but my instructors at school told me to get the 96-97 due to the heui split shot injection . so far i have played with the IDS and done injector R and I turbo R and I and the water pump . Just as a starting point i want to go over the engine and make sure that it is sound . is there any place i should start first due to problem with the 7.3 that i may not know of anything can help

check the engine valley for any fuel, indicating a fuel leak @ the pump, or the fuel bowl. Likly suspects are the rubber lines. I'd also pull the intake boot off of the turbo and check for any movement of the shaft, and condition of the impeller fins.
Ask the owner if the ABS harness recall has been done..(.a harness with an inline fuse installed)...if its a 97, if the CPS recall has been done....

what mods can i do besides injectors and keep stock internals
