I change it myself once a year, along with the fuel filters. Makes for a good workout getting my petite self under that truck....

I take mine to the dealership. When I bought the truck the salesman gave me a card that said "Oil changes for the life of your vehicle $49.95". He didnt know that was supposed to be for Gasoline vehicles only. The first time I took it in, they told me they couldnt do it for that price on a diesel. I showed them the card (with my vin number printed on it) and told them "yes you can". She sais "I'm gonna call the salesman and ask him". I told her "why dont you do that so you can ring me up and get me out of here". After she got off the phone she was headed towards me and I could see the attitude in her eyes. She was almost to me when the service manager grabbed her by the arm and pulled her in a room. When she came out she said "We're gonna take care of it and put it in the computer so you wont even have to show your card next time". So for $49.95 I let them change it while I drink coffee and watch Good Morning America!!! lol

Whats even better is I get $10 off coupons in the mail every now and then, so I get it done for $39.95 sometimes!! She grits her teeth when that happens!! LOL

Ditto! I don't like others putting wrenches to my vehicles unless I'm there to watch over their shoulders. That, and I didn't go to that expensive college just to end up PAYING for a service I can do myself!

I've been paying someone to do it....but I've been thinking about doing it myself.

Taking it in..no oil on the hands, no disposal worries, do it at lunch time so it doesn't cut into my weekend. BUT...it does cost more.

It's no different than changing oil in a gasser, it's just more of it. My wife has been out of work...so looking for ways to cut back. I will need to get a larger catch pan since the one I have only holds 12 quarts, but that should be no problem.
