Gulf War question

Ok, so many know that the gulf war of the early 90s is what "made" CNN.

If anyone is was in the military then, or knows of specific cases, I'd like some help/input.

A person I work with insists that CNN was responsible for killing many of our soldiers because their live news feed was giving away our secrets.

I feel that is a bunch of poppy**** because even without CNN I'm pretty sure they were smart enough to figure out what was going on. I mean a bunch of enemies on the ground wouldnt be sitting there watching CNN saying "oh crap, here come a plane for us"

FWIW, I don't watch CNN so I don't take a position for or against it....but I guess since I don't watch it, I'm against it. haha..

Thoughts on CNN providing intel for the Gulf War?

I remember Wolf Blitzer ducking on the roof tops when the AA was flying.

Remember Geraldo giving away troop locations. I still hate Geraldo.
He may have been with Fox by then.

We did not have that many casualties during the Gulf War. The reason why we have so many this time around. Is because we did not have 2-3 months of air strikes like during the Gulf war.

My dad was over there during this time and he always said that they just got in the way all the time. But it wasn't just CNN, it was all the media.

When I was in Riyadh and Dhaharan we would learn from CNN scuds were on the way before the air raid sirens went off. After a while when they said scuds were on the way you just got your gear on and went to a bunker.

Craig
so maybe CNN prevented US/allied deaths...

I did a little looking, it was around 200 that died, 250ish (IIRC) if you count the other countries
