Proud to be an American

I figured that firefighters shouldn't be the only ones who show their pride in the USA by flying flags off their trucks and engines, so I decided to make a flag pole for mine. I know its not much, and really simple, but its something small I could do to show my pride everyday.

I basically bought a cheap hitch from Walmart for less then 20 bucks, welded a pole to it for another 8 bucks, and I already had the flag. Then to mount the flag i drilled two holes and used eyebolts with shackles. So for 30 bucks, I have a nice flag pole I can put on any vehicle with a 2" hitch. Anyway...here are some pics

Sweet setup man! Hopefully you don't get pulled over for obstructing the license plate.

yeah when im driving its not that bad because the bottom of the flag is right at the top of the plate, but looking back I should have gotten a 5 foot long pole instead of a 4 foot. Im thinking that If I put the setup on another truck that is a stock height, the flag might drag. But for mine, its fine, plenty of room.

ooo I'm sure it would... but I tied mine down to the hooks at the bottom of the bed... there is a little hole where you can run bailing tie or what ever thru it and thru the pole like I did and tie a knot and your good... done that every year for 4th of July and Vets day... never had a problem at all... and talk about people looking... since my truck was lifted and how far they stuck up.. all kinds of people would look and honk ooo and the truck no big deal... hopefully will get another one some day

By the way i really like the 2 tone blue and silver. Standard colors get boring after a while, nice change up!
