how long are you buying supplies for? a month, 6 months, a year? it would be impossible for me to supply the house for a year. I do however have the freezer full of meat and frozen garden vegies, the cabinet full of canned goods, etc.

I'm doing what I can to pay down my dept but hopefully in another year I can have the cc paid off then I will only have the truck and house left to pay

I started buying Mountain House freeze dries food. You can get it in #10 cans (this is what I do) which have servings depending on what food (like corn, green beans, chili mac, mac and cheese etc), from 10 to 20 servings per can. These cans are good for up to 25 years, don't take up much room, and taste great according to my Dad. All you need is hot water to rehydrate and eat. I figure, even if the US doesn't totally collapse, hyperinflation is VERY REAL. Having food on hand to supplement the grocery bill is a good idea.

You can google preparadeness and if you have a Mormon friend, get them to help you out. PM me with your email and I will send you a document I wrote. Did I send it to you already? Packed and stacked correctly, a years supply of food only takes up the size of a large refrigerator. I recommend 6 months at a minimum. Remembers the 5 Bs

You can work all you want, but when the dollar implodes we will all be in the can together - folks on welfare, blue-collar, light-blue, white collar - all facets of middle and lower income will be on the bad side of have and have not. This is why you need to spend your money wisely and get out of debt and prepare...
