The driller seems to be more than cooperative and sensitive to the concerns. Probably won't matter though. They'll still try to shut him down. Then there won't be enough natural gas powered electricity to charge their cars.

The art has survived over 2000 years of dirt, who's to say the dust off of the road for a few years would cause any more trouble than the dust that it has already seen?

Well, my feeling on the matter is - They've probably already made photographic recordings of everything in the cave. If they're really
concerned about future damage, seal the cave entrance, and open
it when they want to go in and observe something.
