Obama NOT a natural born US citizen???

I heard discussion this morning on the radio that Obama was born in Hawaii BEFORE Hawaii was part of the US. Hawaii was just a seperate island, not part of any country i guess? Therefor would this make him NOTeligable to be a candidate for President?
My history is a litte rusty but maybe someone else can add to this.

Senator and Presidential Candidate John McCain was born on August 29, 1936 in Panama at the Coco Solo Air Base in the then American-controlled Panama Canal Zone to Admiral John S. "Jack" McCain, Jr. and Roberta (Wright) McCain.

How do you figure?

Hawaii became a state in 1959.
Obama was born in 1961.

Besides, his mother was an American citizen. Makes him one.

Citizen or not, you still have to be born in the US. hawaii was a state though so it counts. Oh John boy on the other hand...I don't think it counts. Let the Huckster run

those who dismiss talk radio as drivel and pandering need to expand their knowledge base(true)

thats not to say all talk radio is spot on, but much information can be gleaned from it versus the every day media. Take no media as gospel, research on your own, then make an educated decision.....as long as your education doesn't come entirely from the same media, your decisions should be fairly rounded.
