Welcome to the Party!

Like Zell Miller says, " I didn't leave the party, the party left me".

The Repulican party of today is very similar to the democratic party of 40 years ago. My dad has alot of friends that have been democrats their whole life, they we're raised as democrats. There in there70's now. But their political beliefs are in line with the republican party.

Remember my post a month ago about people getting caught up rooting for thier team (party)?

I do not disagree with you though I am surprised by what you're saying. Not completely surprised though, cause as times change that would kind of make sense.

If you don't mind could you give an example or 3? Strictly out of curiousity and I'm not being a smarta$$ either. I would honestly like to know which of todays issues/problems from a republican standpoint are also inline with the views of the democrats 40 years ago?

All those smilies, but no popcorn(waiting)smilie.

The issues are similar today , but a little different. Generally both partys are slowly moving left.
For a simple example, take presidents and candidaits. This election we have a liberial McCain, an elitist socolist, and a global socolist.

JFK ,a democrat was for tax cuts, he belived taxes we're a drag on the econamy. McCain was against tax cuts. Not sure where he stands now.

National security: Democrats used to protect the constitution, 1st amendment, 2nd amendment. etc. and our country. Now, they want to take our guns away. Stifle free speech, (McCain, Fieghngold, Fairness Doctren),Give our sovereignty over to the United Nations( Global Poverty Act.),. FDR protected us in WWII, JFK staired down the Russins (Bay of Pigs)Obama wants to have coffee and donuts with corrupt governments, dictators and terrorists.

Democrats used to represent the working man, the working man at that time needed help against big business, like safe working conditions, job security etc. Now Dems support free trade agrements so that big business can move overseas and use cheap labor, take jobs away from American working man.

Dems restrict the supply of energy so the energy companys make alot of money while the working man gets squessed.Dems are for biofuels (so is Bush) now there's more demand for food, so food goes up further squessing the working man. Now there's not many familly farmers, its corperate farming. More money for rich corperations.

Dems used to support the little guy, now they represent the rich elitists. The richist people in government are democrats.

HELL NO!!! Irish and proud of it here!!

As far as the party is concerned, Sundancer66 makes a good point. What the hell happened to helping, being for the little man. If you look at it, the gap is getting wider and wider.

Thinking of Republican more and more now.
