Well I'm not exactly advocating "Press one for Gaelic!" I just became very interested in how I ended up here after I did my senior thesis on Michael Collins and the Irish Revolution. In a way I'm glad my ancestors were forced from their homeland because this is the greatest country on earth, but as someone who also has extensively studied how WE threw off our British oppressors by force (I was a U.S. history major) I couldn't help but empathize. Supporting the right of Ireland to be left alone doesn't make me any less American than the folks in Miami (who are solid Republican voters by the way) who support the rights of their brethren in Cuba to toss the Castro family out on their collective rear ends.

One example, this fellow (Vet) is/was a homeless alcoholic (ruined his family the whole sad story), decides he wants treatment goes to the VA. He gets the treatment and then housing in a low income apartment complex, pay to re-train him (he is doing CAD work), gets his degree (associates) and is now a contributing member of society. My point isn't to bash what you said, rather to show that there are programs for our homeless Vets if they choose to use them. Many of these homeless Vets choose not to take advantage of these programs because they require the participant to remain clean and sober. On a side note, not every person holding a sign up at an intersection reading "Please Help, Homeless Vet" is one. Roll down your window and ask this simple question "Hey bud, where'd you go to boot" The blank look followed by "What??" usually tells you all you need to know. Craig |

Your totally correct. I just think that the priorities of our elected officials are a bit schewed. There are tons of programs out there that vets can take advantage of. That whole rant I went on got a bit out of hand. Just kinda got on a roll

I couldn't agree with you more about the priorities of elected officials, there aren't but a handful I have any respect for.
