Well, inflation has jumped uncontrolled over the last few weeks. Home sales are at a 13 year low. I don't think that's good news. Nor do I think it's over yet either...

It's 'bout the dang truth. Just watch prices of petty stuff you rarely pay attention to.

Next time ya goto the convenience store check out coke prices or chip prices. Just last year a can coke was $.75 here. Now it's $.99....

'Bout the only thing I can afford to indulge in now is snuff, and it's gonna end up killin' me!

Yeah I noticed that too.....I understand what a recession is, but the thing I dont understand is that price is relative to demand right? If thats the case and we are going in to a recession and people are starting to save their pennies then that means demand goes down right? So why are prices going up? Sorry I fell asleep through economics in school

Right now the speculators are running up the price. With the dollar down more people are investing in oil and running up the price.

I was just watching a business show (yeah geek I know) and they were talking about how the dollar is continuing to loose its value because of our deficit spending, and until we start balancing the budget the value of the dollar will continue to decline. This is what is currently driving up oil prices now vs. geo-political problems.

Having said this some are arguing that we are headed towards a recession while others are stating that we are in a recession. I personally am leaning toward the belief that we are in a recession, what holds me back is that our unemployment rate is still only 5. something, which is great. However, the continuing economic uncertainty is concerning for me.
I just don't have the confidence in our political leadership to LEAD and make the hard decisions and cuts that need to be made. The White House today gave a statement saying "We are keeping an eye on the situation" and Congress wants to investigate Roger Clemmons. GTFOH!!!!!. The politicians are a bunch of Nero's playing fiddles as Rome burns.
I am also leery of us as citizens (me included) as to be willing to make sacrifices needed to help pull our selves out of this. It will be interesting to see what happens.
As always this is just my .02

Doesn't matter how many people have jobs when those that are employed continue to spend more than they make. Simple math, at some point it's all going to come crashing down....
