Marc we don't have to pay all that much in dues for me being self-employed I pay less than $40 a month. The benefits far out weigh the pain of paying for dues. We have extremely good insurance, pension plan and vacation fund not to mention if you happen to die on the job the union gives a substantial amount of money to your family to cover expenses. I will do a little digging later and get our info on what we actually pay for our insurance and pension but I know that it is less than half of what I priced for myself when I started the company. Plus the coverage is a lot better including dental and eyes.

Nope it is the same way for the outfits that have 250 carpenters working for them also. I guess that company size would still be considered small in some arena's. But it still holds true for our 20,000 members.
