Green Collar Jobs

What do yall think about all the candidates constantly talking about green collar jobs? Has it got to a point where we are haveing to make up new colors for different collar workers?

They keep talkin about being GREEN well what about being BLUE and keeping this country running... Sure the Green jobs are important but there are a lot more of us blue collar workers than there are green collar workers as it stands right now.

How about doing something for the blue collar workers, this will more likely get you votes than the small % of green tree hugging enviromentalist out there.

Well, if you really think about it, "green collar" jobs would be blue collar jobs. The U.S. manufactures almost nothing these days and the big three automakers get bumped down the world status list all the time. If we started to manufacture more "green technology" we'd have more manufacturing (and therefore blue collar) jobs. I'm talking about the farmers who would grow the biofuel crops, the workers at the biofuel refineries, workers at assembly plants putting together solar systems, wind turbines, etc... A biodiesel refinery just opened on the "Chemical Coast" here in New Jersey (Elizabeth) which is a shell of its former self. A bunch of investors got together and rehabbed an old chemical plant-now it employs something like 60 people. We have more than a few landfill gas collection plants here which supply a large amount of energy and employ a lot of people. How are those jobs not blue collar? We're not going to be making steel or anything like again anytime soon, so why not employ solid middle class blue collar workers in a growing industry

i agree they are blue collar jobs..all im saying is now they are making up color collar jobs just to get a vote...the farmers and other jobs like this will always be blue collar in my book..even though they have been producing green for many many years...i just love how they are using terminology in order to sway a vote one way or the other
