Mike was a good Governor of Arkansas, and I like him very much.
He can't be all bad, he drives a 7.3 4 x 4 Excursion to pull his Ranger Bass Boat.

Since it's looking like Fred may not be able to get his crap together I've done a lot more research on Huckabee and he's likely to get my vote over the others in the chase. There are some "issues" regarding tax increases when he was Governor and I'm really floored on the rapist he supposedly helped get out of prison, who then ended up murdering - I believe the initial victim. Things like that REALLY stick out with me.
Unfortunately no one else is anywhere near what I'm looking for.

Yeah the tax and pardon thing had me concerned at first, but I did alot of research on them and I dont think they were as bad as his detractors will have you believe.

On the tax increase:
It was used to pay for roads and highways. If youve ever driven through Arkansas you knew they needed it. At least they didnt raise taxes for welfare or to give illegals drivers licenses!!

On the parole:
the rapist from what I have seen the guy initially got life +20 for rape (pretty steep for rape but anyway) because the girl was a distant relative of bill clinton (the gov at the time)
before trial the rapist was assaulted in his home and castrated! (ouch!) His testicles were later found in a jar of phamaldehyde on the sherriffs desk. No one was ever charged. The next governor (Jim Guy Tucker) reduced his sentence to 39 1/2 years making him eligible for parole. Mike Huckabee wrote a letter to the rapist and told him that he thought he should be rehabilitated and paroled because he got a raw deal (referring to the steep sentence and Castration). Mike Huckabee DID NOT parole the guy. The parole board did, 6 years later (during an election year) 2 of the board members(that had been fired by huckabee) Said they felt "pressued" to parole the guy. I dont think that Mike is responsible for this guys actions and I dont think anybody could have predicted what the guy would do. Just my $.02
