if I was in his boots.. I would request that the Commandant of the Marine Corps & Sergeant Major of the Marine Corps to present it to myself

It would mean more to myself (as a Marine) to receive it from them instead of the president

Congrats to him!! Like some of the posters in the comment section below, the article calls him a former Marine. Having known some Marines, they go by the code that there is no such thing as a "former" Marine. Once a Marine, Always a Marine! He gets to "Decorated" to his title!
