Unions have they outlived their usefulness

IMO yes. Labor laws have taken the place of them

I think you need to be more worried about foreign countries working for pennies and under cutting US business more than you need to worry about the union employees making a fair living.

Unions are a large portion of the reason manufacturing went overseas

I'm in a service local union, but I hate everything they stand for....can't tell you how many arguements I've been in overall the BS with them....it's a wonder I haven't been kicked out

This is the main reason why I argue, same as you said, unions only hurt our economy.

They were made to protect workers, now that OSHA was formed...unions are no longer needed

Now,all they do is abuse, and abuse.

I'm not talking out my back end....I see this all the time.

I know there are other HVAC guys on here and see the same thing, doing this kind of service-you see all walks of industry,to offices,to business practices....you name it..we've seen it,except NSA....you have to wear a blindfold

I believe unions still have a place today. Their original purpose has been perverted into something I am ashamed of. On a small scale, locally, they benefit members and non-member alike. Involve the thieves in DC and you begin to see the horrible, left-handed, cheating and lying rotten bastards. I have been screwed over by many special contracts made in DC. And try to break off and go alone as a union local...... thugs at your door.

I am a third generation Steamfitter with my father, grandfather, 4 uncle,4 cousins and a bro-in-law also as member of the same local. We are proud of what we know and can do.
