new york is one of the most corrupt states in the union probably second only to new jersey where i am originally from. i lived in jersey for the first 35 years of my life, and after getting married, and not sure of how big a family we were going to have at the time we moved out of a house not even 1000 square feet and 2 bedrooms in jersey, and moved a few minutes across the border to new york. found a nice deal on a house with almost 3000 square feet, and 4 bedrooms. i knew i would never be able to find a house with a 20000 square foot lot where i grew up in north jersey just over the river from new york city. i figured for 100k-150k grand less i could find something with a much bigger property, and bigger house, and in a quiet neighborhood, and i did, and figured commuting down to the rat race every day was worth it just so i wouldn't have to live there. i could also shoot guns outside whenever i want. thats where i am now, and i was burned. in many ways it's still better here. peaceful, and quiet, but you hear about new jersey property taxes every day.
mine is just as high down here, but if you go up by buffalo, and syracuse it's not so bad. i'm merely an hour and a half from nyc still. so we got $8000 a year property taxes, don't even have a police force in town, schools are okay, but not worth $8000 a year, and my street as well as all the others in town are covered in potholes. i don't know where the hell all my money is going.
