Obama proposed new spending for highway and bridge construction, for small business tax cuts and for retrofitting millions of homes to make them more energy-efficient. He said he wanted to extend economic stimulus programs to keep unemployment insurance from expiring for millions of out-of-work Americans and to help laid-off workers keep their health insurance. He proposed an additional $250 apiece in stimulus spending for seniors and veterans and aid to state and local governments to discourage them from laying off teachers, police officers and firefighters.

Why not use that money to put people back to work rather than continuing a bunch of lazy sods? (not saying everyone unemployed is lazy, but a large % is)

We don't need to spend our way out of recession. We need to give more leeway to large and small business alike and let them compete and then jobs will come.

all presidents end up following the same general path as the pres before them ... presidents really dont have a huge amount of power so its not like all the hope and change stuff was really going to happen but if we got mccain in the same thing would happen with the war ... mccain was so pro surge that the only difference is it would have happened sooner ... but as far as obama and his change i think he is setting somewhat realistic goals as far as some things and there are definitely good and bad parts to the healthcare reform but its really not the best option right now ... jfk tried healthcare reform and that obviously didnt workout well since the gov is pushing for it again ... the only president that (recently) has done a radical change was good ol' FDR but that was during a time of crisis and he faced opposition in courts and out ... nowadays we arent going to see a radical change because its political suicide ... the only way that we could see an end to the war like the left wants is if congress got together and cut funding but that is political suicide because that would be seen as not supporting the troops (which in many ways it is) ... we arent going to see the change and hope that obama was a poster child for because he simply cant do it without committing political suicide ... although hes pretty close to that now he would definitely get assassinated if he did what he was elected for ... just my 2 cents
