These are different circumstances with civilians we are sworn to protect, but if I thought they were endangering me, or someone else, or hell, if they tried to jump in front of my truck, im sure the brakes would fail, randomly.

Jack, we all have those sides man. I have a side that says the chit I'm saying now, and the side that would shoot your *** and go have a beer while I'm waiting for the cops to show up. It all depends on the situation I'm in. It's not necessarily a bad thing
In you're friends case, he was doing what he was sworn to do and was following orders
I'm not sure we'd have saved any grief and/or heartache by taking him out

It may have made things worse. You never really know man.
I don't know your're friend, but it sounds like we may have known some of the same types

Exactly my point brother.
Although the military isn't really sworn to protect the civilians, it's a good idea when dealing with stateside matters, to approach it that way

I agree wholeheartedly with your statment regarding endangerment. If a life is at risk, then civilians or not, you can't let that happen.
