Yep we can't afford it so it is getting suspended. Why does this surprise the libs.

Up here they gave my mother cash for her clunker and it is in the lot forsale again. Looks like that dealership has a good scam going.

Down here they have to destroy them. Or at least that is what they are saying.

Man I'm glad we got ours!
Picked up our TDI Jetta Saturday. Got $4500 for our 2001 Mazda MPV that wasn't going to last us much longer. The dealer showed us the checklist they had to go by on what to do to our Van to get their money. It boiled down to draining the oil and pouring in this Salt/Sand/Water mixture and starting it up. They then had to let it run til the motor seized. Once that was done they could then sell it to the salvage yard for $200. They let me watch them do it. It was kind of like watching a pet get put to sleep... only a lot noisier and smokier! |

They seriously destroyed the engine? What a waist of engine parts. I can see them just sending it to a junk yard for parts, but what if someone wanted the engine out of it?

Yup thats what the program says to do. Destroy it and provide proof that its destroyed. Libs are trying to eliminate anything pre OBDII esentially

Destroying a perfectly good running vehicle.... That's just F'ing
![]() Wait... Oh yeah, that's right. The whole concept originated in Washington...

Oh i can see that being their adjenda, but in all honesty you and i both know that there are some clunkers that the bodies have rotted away, but the drivelines are still perfectly good. So i actually am ok with them suspending the program.

That's why I have absolutely HATED this program since I first read about it. It's one of the absolute worst things to ever come from the government. There were clips on the news this afternoon of cars that had been traded in as clunkers, several of them were actually relatively new cars, perhaps 8 to 10 years old or so. What a terrible, terrible, terrible program. I hope it doesn't come back.
