Another Soldier Takes a Stand

Soldier balks at deploying; says Obama isn’t president
Says he shouldn’t have to go to Afghanistan because Obama is not a U.S. citizen

By Lily Gordon - lgordon@ledger-enquirer.com

U.S. Army Maj. Stefan Frederick Cook, set to deploy to Afghanistan, says he shouldn’t have to go.

His reason?

Barack Obama was never eligible to be president because he wasn’t born in the United States.

He also is afraid of the country prosecuting him as a war criminal. We need more of these in the Military.

Mutiny with in ranks is not a good thing. If congress and the senate can not see that this President is tearing our country apart. Then ladies and gentlemen prepare yourselves. What should you prepare yourself for, a revolution.

If Congress and the Senate can not see that the press, and these extreme talk show hosts have been it is coming. Then they are blind, they are not living in reality.

I have a problem with this. While I understand his frustration regarding the cloud around Obama's eligibility for the office, he doesn't have the right to refuse to deploy. He (Maj Cook) voluntarily took an oath to uphold the Constitution and to obey the lawful orders of those officers placed in authority
above him. Doesn't matter what he thinks about the President.

I also understand his concern about possibly being prosecuted later for war
crimes. There is no telling what this Congress might do down the road.

But disobeying lawful orders is not the answer. He has the option to resign his Commission.
If he feels strongly enough about it, he should forfeit his pension and resign.
