Camera Quesion - Digital SLR

I am looking to buy a digital SLR camera for my wife for xmas. Ok, I will use it too!

Any good sugestions? Place to buy and which ones?

It will be used to take pictures of cars, trucks, and animals. lol

I bought my T3 from best buy online, I bought it when it first came out a few months ago, it was $599 before it shipped nest buy actually refunded me money because it went on sale for $549..... the canon to me is very user friendly and takes nice pictures with the kit lens that comes with it

I bought the T1i last year from costco and love it... it was the package deal with the bag, 2 lenses, and the base camera and 2 8gig memory sticks.. if i remember correctly i paid 1200 for everything which is a good deal.

at the time i was also looking at the Nikon D60 which is also a very good camera.

its def worth it to buy a nice full digital DSLR especially if you at least read a couple of books and start using the full manual mode.. its complicated at first but after about 1k shots you will get the hang of it.

also it starts getting expensive because nice lenses are anywhere in the 500+ each. i have been wanting to get a nice Macro lense and a wide angle lense but they are both about 1k each

I've bought from B&H Photo for years. My latest is the Canon 50D with a few lenses. It all depends on how much you want to spend, what you want to use it for, etc. I feel strongly that Canons are the best choice for several reasons, one being their selection of lenses.

Yes make sure whatever camera you buy you get a good book to go along with it, I have a David busch's book on my T3 and it's amazing the info.... He makes books for just about every camera out now and they are well worth the 20 bucks

I just bought my girlfriend the st700 from samsung, cool camera if you and your wife go out places by yourself cause it has the front view screen so you can get great shots of yourselves.
