If you need your cdl with air brakes then you will need a truck with air brakes. When I got my cdl I studied online took all 7 tests in 2 days (failed 2 the 1st day) and rented a automatic day cab with a 30' trailer for $350

If you are getting your CDL you might as well get the air brakes. If you don't and decide later you will have to drag another truck up there. They make you do a air brake test before they let you drive. Why limit yourself?? Just sayin.
