Lake Murray from the air

Took some friends to Lake Murray Lodge for dinner this week. It was
a birthday ride (not mine). Really windy that day (Wednesday) and
a little hazy, but here's some pics.

On the ground in Goldsby, OK ready to launch ...

Oklahoma countryside on climbout ...

Dolese plant? West of Davis, OK

Descending near Lake Murray

Approaching Lake Murray Resort - airport in center beyond the lake

Approaching airport ...

Safely on the ground at Lake Murray Resort (cheated death again!)

I didn't take them. Posted with permission. J.D. Baxter (the birthday boy) took 'em.

It costs more to fly faster ...
I throttle back and cruise at about 140 knots, 10 gallons per hour.
Heavy headwind going down, then eased up by the time we returned,
for a lighter tailwind.
55 minutes down, about 35 minutes back.
I burned about 15 gallons of car gas. I can burn car gas because I
have an older, lower compression engine.
