Oklahoma Chapter Name Question

The question has been raised that By adopting the name "Sooner Powerstrokers", we may not atract as many members as we could, ie; Oklahoma Cowboys fans.
Sooners in this case is not meant to be associated with the University at all.

So i would like to hear from you if this name bothers you and may prevent you from joining our local chapter.

this name has already been voted on but if there is enough opposition, i suspect we could vote to change the name.

I just got a pm about the Okie chapter, and first off ill admit I dont frequent the board much unless I have a question about something. But I think an Oklahoma chapter sounds like a great idea, unfortunatly I was born and raised in stillwater and bleed orange, even to the point I would say I stongly dislike sooner fans. So I couldnt bring myself to join a club with "sooners" in the name. smokin okies was good though. anyway just my .02 count me in if you change the name. good luck fellas. (and ladies)

i have to say I agree. I bleed orange as well. Shame I had to get a maroon truck, but the deal was too good to pass up. I think anything with Okies is fine with me. Go Pokes!!!!

Although I am a recent transplat to oklahoma and do tend to lean twards OSU as opposed to OU (strictly 'cause I am a non conformist and most of the people in the area are OU fans. Being a USC fan has almost gotten me lynched a few times here, so I decided to retire their colors and fly something local. And although I do not "root" for OU I understand that this was the sooner state long before OU was the sooners, so I swallow my transplant pride and support the Sooner banner as long as its cause is for our PSD group as we could be called the OK Oil Burneres and the basic idea behind the name stays the same, A bunch of gear heads uniting under a common banner for the same reason. What ever the name, count me in.

well, not to open a can of worms here,
but the sad thing is the state is known for being "the sooner state"
but i also agree, i would hate to lose a future member due to the name, and smokin okies prob wont cut it either.....IMO,

i think we should just go as "Oklahoma Powerstrokers"

if you can think of another name, post it.............
