Folks, the Local Chapters Bylaws as posted on Forums by State (Hometown Forums) take precedence over, and may not be preempted by, our chapter bylaws. Posted below are a few items I thought we might want to include in our chapter bylaws. Please read the governing document first. What you see below is meant to be used in conjunction with the governing document. This is just a starting point for discussion.

Oklahoma Powerstrokers
Chapter Bylaws

I. Preemption

Oklahoma Powerstrokers chapter bylaws may not contradict the local chapter bylaws provided by Powerstroke.org. Bylaws contained herein are in addition to those provided by Powerstroke.org.

II. Membership.

Local chapter membership is open to any interested person residing in the state of Oklahoma. Ownership of any particular vehicle is not a prerequisite to membership. Chapter functions may be attended by any Powerstroke.org member, but only Oklahoma Powerstrokers chapter members may vote on any matters pertaining to the Oklahoma chapter.


III. Amendment of these Chapter Bylaws

These chapter bylaws may be amended by a two-thirds majority of voting members. (Means of casting and validating votes to be determined).

I don't know but it would sure seems strange to have a Chapter named Sooner Powerstrokers and have cummins or D-max owners sportin our name/logo.
I actually was thinking of writing one that said just the opposite. Members must own/drive a Ford Powerstroke.
Not trying to be rude about other brands but gotta draw a line in the sand somewhere when it comes to brands.
And more than likely no one driving a Cummins would WANT to join a chapter with that name but you never know.

I just looked over the general chapter Bylaws and we do not have to have by-laws in place in order to begin Chapter operation.
We do have to have a name (done) a Logo (in the process) and leaders.
Personally i would like to wait on nominating leaders. I am seeing some more participation here and learning more about some of you but i don't know alot of you well enough yet to nominate you for a leader spot...likewise your still learning about me probably. Although it should be pretty easy to get a feel for my personality as i have almost 5000 post scattered all over this forum...
So what do yall think? Work on the logo and finalize that over the next few weeks and then nominate and vote on a staff later?
And i'm not trying to hijack this thread, just pointing out some things somewhat related to this thread.

It's a good point for discussion. My thinking was, if someone is interested in Powerstrokes, but doesn't have one yet, do we forbid membership?
If someone has one, joins, then sells it or wrecks it, do they have to leave? I agree that probably not many Dodge or Chevy owners would be interested in joining our chapter. But there are some some who post frequently on the .org.

I have no strong feeling about it. What do others think?

Well, the Powerstroke is the foundation of what we all hold in common for this chapter.
If we were going to call it "Sooner Diesel Enthusiast" then i guess even if you drove a VW bug TDI you could join.


I personally woulfn't care if someone drove a Dodge Cummins untill the crap talk started (and you know it would) and then i would have an issue with it.
But no, if a person is a PSD enthusiast but doesn't own one as in the examples you gave, that could be delt with case by case which would be few i think, just as long as they didnt drive a cummins and show up to a meet talking trash about someones Ford. And to be honest, it would temp me at some point to trash talk there Dodge...

Let see how everyone else feels.

Its not a huge deal to me and i don't mean to nit pick.

my buddy has a 97 F250 with a cummings in it, would he be excluded if we made it ONLY powerstroke drivers.

Personally I wouldn't care if cheby and dodge guys were there, as long as there was no trash talking. But I dont think they should be apart of the official powerstroke.org chapter

How about the change above? Silent on ownership, but must be a Powerstroke enthusiast. That should minimize the likelihood of trash talk.
