Found out what happen to my motor
In #3 cylinder one of the valves had a fateful run in with the piston at TDC and shattered the piston, bent the valve, killed the head and scared the cylinder wall. Now waiting on Ford to see if they want to fix the damage or replace the motor

my gut tells me you will get a short block....1 new head...and the rest will be built out of whats good of the old parts....based on past experiences...

hey marc. what causes of that. or what is a common cause of the run in bad valve springs? or what. cuase that sounds like a pretty rare thing so maybe something praticular happend that other people could watch out for

honestly ive heard all kinds of theories...but the only thing i know to be true for sure is that the cooling properties of the motor are the worst on cylender #3.....i cant for sure say what led to the problem for sure though. It seems that about 85% of the motor failures ive ever seen or heard of on a 6.0 started on cyl 3.....it always seems to have that one involved....

ok marc you think I could talk them into head studs at this point in time?

If they do a short block and if they are cool with doing them it would be a great time!!! If they do a long block they would be pretty tough to talk into it though. I wouldnt be afraid to do a long block (a 6.0 that had never been started) one bolt at a time but honestly most places would freak at the idea of that.....
