Ice storm 2007

Man does this weather suck! over 500k people without power is what i am hearing...thats in Oklahoma alone. I imagine this has impacted some of the surrounding states as well.
My power went out Sunday morning about 3:00 am and has been off since. And no internet! I do have a generator so i can run the pellet stove for heat, the TV, a couple of lamps and the refrigerator.
Fallen trees everywhere with 1/2" of ice on everything. It took me an hour to get my truck thawed so i could drive it. Luckily all my trees are relatively small so i had no damage from fallen limbs.
How are others doing in this situation? Damage? Hope power is restored soon too all!
What an eye opener, the simple things we take for granted in this day and age, next time i pay the electric bill i will write "thank you" on the comment line.
However painful it is though, my 10 year old boy is getting an education no one could ever teach him, this experience has really opened his eyes. Last night as we sat at the dinner table eating our cold sandwiches (electric cook stove in the house) by candle light, he said, "it was hard to live back when they didn't have electric hu" and I knew his wheels were turning and would continue to turn with each daily task he tackled with no power to do it. Anyway, thats the bright side i guess.

Yeah lucky for me in Michigan I only have rain for now. But as soon as it goes below freezing I will be parked at home going no where.

Man, if i had a dime for each time i walked into a dark room in the house and automatically hit the light switch thinking i was goin gto turn on the light...well, id only have about a buck ninety ...but you get my point... lol

i know how that is here in lexington we had that awful ice storm a few years back... good luck with every thing man

good luck man I hope everyone stays safe I feel you that is how we are when the hurricanes come around here in FL

we had a ice storm like that last year on new years!! it sucks we didnt have power for like 5 days tell we got a big john deer gen set that ran the house. but i know what your going threw it makes you think how greatful power really is! we got an inch of ice and 4 inches of snow.i have been plowing with the stroker since 3 this morning finally took a break!
