How does one......

This may not go here, but. How does one go about making himself available for emergency services? I have seen the distinction in several sigs and was wondering. If there is a place to sign up i am all in. I am in the Nashville TN area and would love to help if I can.

What the emergency services banner you see means is that member is either a police officer, firefighter,or EMT/paramedic

Ok thanks and excuse the fact that I am a dufus

I think it would be good to have a spot like that though, members of a given area that could be called on, in a non life threatening situation, with cell numbers or something like that.

I went down to the county and enrolled in our little mini fema. We got 27" of rain in about 5 hours a couple of years ago and it was ugly for about 6 days. Now I have to help but can move around town freely in emergency situations, like if the sky blue helmets show up.

I could sign on with the rescue squad, but I was thinking more along the lines of helping fellow Org. members, not that the other is any less important, but we are sort of like a familoy on here and we need to be able to help when needed. I think.

What we usually do here is, if someone starts a thread saying their truck is down in a certain area and they need help. members in the area will PM their phone number if they are available

Can I be an honorary member? I stop at accidents if no emergency crews are there to make sure everyone is ok til help arrives.

That is a good approah. I think what would be good though is to have a place set aside like in a sticky in the 911 section that has specific people in a given area to call like if they need help. I think I will post this in our chapter thread maybe we could create a list of cell numbers and of course where we live.

Someone made a run north about a year ago, and the org kept up with his progress the whole way. sick truck, emergency run, all went well.
