DOG FENCE HELP

LOOKING TO BUY AN UNDERGROUND FENCE FOR OUR SHEPPARD MIX. LOOKING AT CABELAS AT THE SPORT DOG, AND THE INNOTEK, BUT DONT KNOW IF THE EXTRA $$$ FOR THE INNOTEK. WE HAVE THREE ACRES TO COVER, AND A SOMEWHAT STUBBORN DOG. JUST LOOKING FOR YOUR ADVICE, AND EXPERIENCE ON THE FENCES, OR OTHER PLACE TO PURCHASE. I DONT MIND SPENDING THE EXTRA MONEY ON ONE THATS DURABLE, AND WORKS THE BEST. THANKS FOR THE HELP

I used to have a DogGuard underground fence. I don't know about the other so I will say about ours. It was nice because it had an adjustable width field. We started out wide and as the dog got used to it, we narrowed the field to give more of a comfort zone.

There were 2 different probes. There was also a resistor that went under the probes to lighten the shock to the dog.

Down side, our dog got smart. He would run really fast through the shocking zone, yelping a few times, to get to the other side to chase something. When he was done, he would just sit and wait for us to take his collar off and take him inside the protected area. This was even with the highest shock and pointest probes against shaved fur.

Also, remember the probes against the skin can cause pressure ulcers to form and should be removed when not needed.

I don't know if I still have the parts, but we no longer use this. PM me if you want me to look.

I have a PetSafe (comfort fit deluxe?) one and love it mine is adjustable to like 20 feet either side of the wire. I bought the extra wire from radiofence.com way cheaper. Just one word of advice. If you don't have one, go rent a gas edger. It cuts a beautiful little slice about 4 inches deep, perfect for the wire. Run the slice over with your mower or quad after putting wire in it and it smashes it back perfect, cant even tell it was there.
