What do you guys/gals think of this?

You cannot invade the mainland of the United States. There will be a rifle behind every blade of grass

I'm just looking for thoughts, I want to have a pro gun quote added to my tattoo tomorrow.

Back in 1835, Santa Anna decided that the Mexican Constitution of 1824 gave the Anglos too many rights. He set out to basically remove the anglos from mexican soil(Texas). His troops got run out of Bexar(San Antonio and the Alamo), so he went over to Gonzales, another anglo settlement to remove a cannon. this is the origin of the phrase, "Come and Take It." that you may have seen on Curlysue's avatar.

He did not get the cannon, but came back with an army the following March of 1836, thus the Alamo, Goliad, and then defeat at San Jacinto, and Texas independence.

Well, as for getting this added to my tat today. I found the quote, and the name under the quote was Admiral Isoroku Yamamoto. You may already know who he is, if not a short google search will tell you. I really like the quote, until I found out who said it, but as you said it has been a widely used quote

I just want to hear some opinions about getting that permanently tattooed on my shoulder along side the American flag/Bald Eagle

As I understand, Nick is right in that the Japanes knew that to invade the US was suicide because they knew that most Americans had guns and may put up a tad bit of resistance.

I love history, especially Texas, understandably. My family was right in the middle of the whole thing. Lost relatives ( three brothers ) to Mexican cavalry while going to Goliad to help Gen. Fannin, and had 5 at San Jacinto, three brothers fought while youngest brother and father were supply.

Do you think it would be a poor choice for a tattooed quote? The guy that said it was a prick, and killed a few thousand men and women, but I think it's cool that he KNEW that he would not be able to invade our shores because WE would be there to keep them in the water

Tough call. Yamamoto was a well respected leader, but for the enemy.

Hey Nick,
While I like the quote I don't know that it is the best one for a tattoo. You might think about Molon Labe - ΜΟΛΩΝ ΛΑΒΕ - Greek - Means "Come and Take Them".

Craig
That's pretty sweet and short. I was messing around last night, taking quotes and translating them to Latin, and Italian. but Greek works too . They came out pretty long, and couldn't figure out how to say them where I didn't sound like a . I have a few hours to think about this, then It will be pasted to my body permanently

I think I'm going to use that one Craig, I'll post up some pics when I get back from the tat shop
