Bad luck

I guess I just have bad luck or something. I was driving home yesterday and a rock hit my windshield. This is the first rock to hit it. I am driving to work this morning and had to have the defrost on and I start hearing this strange sound and I am looking around and can not find anything. I look back and my window is cracked from side to side. I have had many vehicles go years with little rock spots in the windshield and never crack like this. Yeah they crack a little more over time but never all at once. Also yesterday I was backing up my utility trailer and forgot I had the tailgate down and guess what. Scratch in the tailgate. That was just not my day I guess.

Sorry guys just had to vent my anger before work starts so I am not in such a bad mood.

Sorry to hear about your bad luck yesterday.....if it's any consolation some lady cutting through a parking lot took the front off my wife's suv yesterday so it wasn't a great day for me either.
It has to get better right?

This morning it seemed the window was one solid crack all the way accross but when I went to leave from work I could see it better since it was daylight. It starts on the side and is cracked 3-4 inches and then ot cracked 2-3, then cracked 6-8 and then not cracked 2-3, then cracked 5-6 and not cracked 2-3. It is like this accross the whole window. I am lost as to what happened. It was about 38 this morning and I had the defroster on when it happened. The crack is about in line to where the defroster would be blowing. I have just never heard of a defroster in cold weather cracking a window but here it doesn't get cold too much. Just wanted to vent a little more. The good news is my insurance deductible for a windshield is only 25 so I am atleast happy about that. I ust need to find a reputable glass company around here.

It happens when the glass is cold and then it's warmed. It shrinks and then expands. The changes do weird stuff to it. When it expanded it just cracked all the way. Haha in florida if the crack is like an inch or two they have to fix it no deductible no nothin.

Well I guess that answered it then. I will definetely think twice about running the defroster unless absolutely needed once I get the new one in. Thanks for letting me vent guys.

Hey i'm in the same boat on the cracked windshield. I had a real bad day sunday and actually heaved my phone at the dashboard, causing it to bounce off of it and right on my windshield, leaving a large 8" around star shaped crack! It's actually kind of neat looking....okay no it's not. Anyway i'll get a pic up tomorrow sometime....
