Carmax = Funny!

So I dropped by carmax today just for giggles to see what they would appraise my truck at. I know there are a few things like the driverside mirror missing trim, and the windshield has a crack that runs along the bottom and a few small dings and dents.. I already figured they were going to low-ball me with a price around 7 or 8K, but I was still curious.. You want to know what they offered me?

3500.00 bucks.... Yeah talk about being offended... You have got to be kidding me. I know the diesel market is down now but are they serious?

They are notorious for that. My in-laws brought a 2001 Expedition to them, 80k miles - offered $1500. And its in tip-top shape.

Thats what sucks right now. We know what these vehicles are worth but thats a diff story. I have a good friend of mine that owns a used lot that specializes in Pstrokes and he was telling me he watched 2 trucks go a few weeks back that blew his mind. First was an '07 F-350 CC LB Lariet 4x4. Had 34,000 miles on it and it was perfect he said. It brought $17,000 at the auction. The second one was an '08 F-350 CC LB Lariet 4x4 and ofcourse a 6.4 with 22,000 miles on it. It was black and he said absolutly beautiful. It brought $24,000. Crazy huh.

these new trucks must not be worth a dang...lol i wrecked my truck back at the end of march body shop said 6000 to fix but that was including some prior dents. insurance company gave me the option to total it and walk away with $10,000 or they would give me $7500 to do what i wanted with it i took the option B since my truck is my baby and fixed it my self for about 2grand that including HID lights and clear headlights and by the way truck had nearly 254,000 miles on it 262,000 now

Sounds like those are the places to go for a lightly used rig huh!

Hey John I know you went over there just for giggles but that is why they are so huge. They steal cars from people whom do not want their vehicle any longer, Ship it to another region were that particular vehicle brings more money. And boom PROFILE out the A--.
I think you and I are in the wrong business. I bet you they would fix the small things on your truck and sell it for 16k. Smart people ya.

If that truck goes for less than 10K I would be shocked.

Its Carmax, They are a big chain of used car lots around the country. You take your vehicle there and they apraise it.
