Helped the Boy Scouts
Well today I was on may to grab some grub. When I came upon a bus with a trailer broke down on the side of the road. I pulled into the gas station they were stopped in front of. Seen the problem it was very obvious. The hitch the trailer was hooked too broke. So I talked to the troop leaders. I told them what I could do for them. I ran over to a guy that lives near me. He has a portable welding company. I talked to him, he went up and looked at it. Said he can repair it and reinforce the hitch for 75 dollars. He said that was what the materials would cost him. So he was not making any money. I hooked my truck to the trailer. I found out why they broke the hitch. I think they had there load all up front in the trailer. I never towed anything that was so tongue heavy before in my life. Well anyways I towed the trailer down to the guys shop. Talked to the troop leader about properly loading the trailer and how you want to disperse the wieght. I hope they listened to my suggestions. Because if they didn't there hitch will be broken again before they get to there destination. Anyways so that is my good deed for the day. Now I am gonna go drink beer.

They are heading down to the Blue Ridge Mountains in Ohio somewhere. Anyways if I had an arc welder I would have done the work for free. I would have done it with my mig if The guy said he was unable to do it.
But I figured this type of job should be done by some one that is licensed and insured. |

Exactly Not saying my welds are crap. But the fact that these people had all the wieght on the tongue. They didn't even get 10 miles from where they started out from before the hitch broke. I could not imangine what I would feel like if that hitch broke going down the highway.

You would think the Boyscouts would know how to load a trailer
, but then again they are not loadmasters.

Being the trailer was a tandem axle I told them they need to put the wieght on the axles. Get it off the tongue it will make for a better ride. |
