A man was shot and killed late Friday, when he tried to rob a Southwest Side convenience store, police said.
San Antonio Police Chief William McManus said a man entered a convenience store in the 1400 block of Brunswick just before midnight and demanded cash.
McManus said the convenience store owner, working at the time, pulled out his own weapon and shots were fired.
The man who tried to rob the store was shot at least once in the face. He dropped his gun and fled from the store in an awaiting get-away car.
The car was found minutes later, a few blocks away on Kyle Street.
The man who was shot at the convenience store remained in the car when police arrived, however the driver was missing.
McManus said the shooting victim was declared dead at the scene, adding police did not yet have a description of the car's driver. Also, police did not have an identification of the deceased.
McManus said the shooting appeared to be justified and in self-defense. He added police did find a wad of cash in the vehicle.
The driver of the car faces possible aggravated robbery charges, according to McManus.
